Mission Creek News

UCC's long term vision for Mission Creek is to restore a viable, healthy greenbelt throughout the city along this important stream corridor that, though neglected and constricted, still meanders through the city. Widening the creek buffer where possible, upgrading buffer conditions through site restoration to improve habitat, and removal of barriers to steelhead trout are important parts of our vision. Local restoration ecologist David Pritchett also has a vision for the creek that outlines a long term program that would return biological function and help to restore the system hydrologically. He calls his vision "Mission Possible," and it is included below for your perusal. "Mission Possible" is an ambitions long term program that defines actions and methodologies to bring about recovery of stream function for Mission Creek. It reflects the community's desire to include important natural resources within the urban setting.
